There are three levels at CUPE
Every base has their own local union office. At Air Canada, we have four local union offices who deal with the flight attendants directly and with their respective base managers. At rouge, they have one local that represent two bases. Above the local level, there is the component office which is located in Toronto. They oversee the concerns for all flight attendants and speak directly to upper management. At the top, there is National which is headquartered in Ottawa. They oversee all bylaw rule changes which must comply with the CUPE Constitution and they deal with the government; from Municipal to Federal.
Another way of understanding the structure of CUPE would be to compare it with our different levels of government in Canada. The local offices can be compared to the Provincial governments, and the component as the Federal Government. CUPE National would then be similar to the Governor General of Canada who represents the Queen of England.
The Component office and each Local Union office do not share their flight attendant email address list? If you have given the Component Office your email address to receive component bulletins, and not to your local union office, you will never receive any email bulletins from your local union office.
To keep up-to-date with union info, please provide your email address to your local union office and to your component.
Over $4 million is collected in union dues from our membership every year.
$1.4 million of these dues goes to CUPE National on a yearly basis.
We have 16 committees at the Component level.
They are the:

Health and Safety Committee

New Aircraft Committee
